Description for Don't be a Douche: A Common Sense Approach On Gaining Admission To and Successfully Completing PA School.
Jennifer Mish began working in Physician Assistant (PA) education in May 2006. Although not a PA or MD, her role as Director of Admissions has evolved over the years to be heavily involved with PA admissions, program assessment, and accreditation; thus, affording her insight into what makes a great candidate for admission and what makes a successful PA student. Hopefully, the title made you want to look further into learning the nuts and bolts of PA admissions and be a successful student. I am known for telling it like it is and for not being very PC—that may be pretty obvious by now. Most importantly, I hope to provide insight on how to navigate your way through this process, in layman’s terms, without making admissions committees and/or faculty cringe at the sound of your name because you have acted like a douche. For over a decade, I have reviewed other people’s advice on how to get into PA school, and rarely have I read the content presented in a way that I would like to see it. On occasion, I felt others’ information was too technical and/or omitted important insight that could help applicants be more realistic about their competitiveness and preparedness.
